Carl Weathers, the legendary Apollo Creed from the four Rocky films, has died at the age of 76, as confirmed by the family to various American media.
"We are sad to announce his passing.
He died happily in his sleep last Thursday, February 1.
Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. In his contributions to film, television, and the arts, he left an indelible mark and is recognized throughout the world," his relatives say in the statement.
The actor also participated in the action film 'Predator' and was recently nominated for an Emmy for his role in 'The Mandolorian', the Disney+ series from the 'Star Wars' universe. In addition, he voiced one of the toys in 'Toy Story' and parodied himself in the Ron Howard production 'Arrested Development'.
