Wang Chengcheng, the person in charge of the organic purchase farm, introduced the organic vegetable gift box while counting and packing it. "These vegetables were just picked fresh from the vegetable field this morning. It will be on consumers’ tables in a few hours.”

With her trendy low bun and delicate makeup, it’s hard to imagine that this Sichuan girl, who graduated from Paris Business School in France, is an expert in growing and selling organic vegetables. It all stemmed from her research on marketing issues for organic products in France. "After returning to China, I found that organic vegetables in domestic supermarkets are scarce and expensive. The unit price of some organic vegetables is almost ten times that of ordinary varieties." Wang Chengcheng, who has been interested in business since childhood, keenly discovered the business opportunities of organic vegetable cultivation.

In 2016, Wang Chengcheng and several friends raised a start-up capital of 3 million yuan and rented 120 acres of land in Peng Town, Shuangliu District, dozens of kilometers away from Chengdu, to set up a farm to specialize in growing organic vegetables. Years of experience in France have greatly improved her ability to take care of herself, allowing her to quickly integrate into rural life.

In the cold winter morning, the cold air on the ground turned into frost, covering the green celery in the farmland with a thin layer of "white gauze". The leeks in the black mulch were sticking their heads out to breathe air. Sitting on a dirt-covered tricycle and inspecting the growth of vegetables along the field ridges is Wang Chengcheng's daily "routine". Seeing the vegetables in the field growing well, Wang Chengcheng felt very happy, "So many people can eat the organic vegetables I grow, I feel very at ease and very happy."

But Wang Chengcheng’s run on this new track of rural revitalization has not been smooth sailing. "In the first seven years, we have been at a loss." Wang Chengcheng said, but as people pay more and more attention to health, their requirements for the quality of food ingredients have become higher, and the farm's sales have gradually increased. Starting from 2023, the organic farm has turned a profit and has rented a new base of nearly 1,000 acres in Qionglai.

Today, Wang Chengcheng's farm has expanded from the original 120 acres to more than 1,000 acres, and has helped more than 60 local villagers find employment nearby. 68-year-old Chen Ping went to work at Wang Chengcheng’s farm as early as 2016. "As an elderly person, working here not only earns money, but also allows me to exercise. I am very satisfied." Chen Ping has been growing organic vegetables for many years. She feels that this job can allow more people to eat nutritious vegetables, which is very meaningful. "After all, good health is truly good."

As rural revitalization continues to advance, the vast rural land continues to glow with vitality. Wang Chengcheng feels deeply about this, "Through everyone's unremitting efforts, the price difference between the organic vegetables and ordinary vegetables we supply has become smaller and smaller. This is not only due to the improvement of planting level and increase in output, but also the vigorous development of rural industries. The confidence given.”

Wang Chengcheng is confident about the future. While planning to strengthen his own brand, he is also linking up with multiple organic vegetable bases in Sichuan and Chongqing. “We want to integrate more resources, introduce local products through the temperature differences in different regions, and enrich Chengdu’s organic Vegetable varieties to expand the organic vegetable market in Chengdu and Chongqing.”

"Our farm will not be closed this year except on the first day of the first lunar month and during the Spring Festival, and we will continue to supply organic vegetables!" Wang Chengcheng said cheerfully. She hopes that the farm will be able to "leap like a dragon and a tiger leap" in the Year of the Dragon. (over)
