The military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, said that the Israeli occupation army’s justification for withdrawing its forces from the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, by ending their duties in the region, was in contradiction with the replacement of other forces in their place, pointing out that this is an indicator of the losses of those forces and the decline in their combat efficiency.

According to an interactive map broadcast by Al Jazeera, the occupation army withdrew part of its forces west of Khan Yunis to areas close to Hamad Town, while the army had previously announced that it had withdrawn the 4th “Kryati” brigade and 55 reserve paratroopers, claiming that they had finished their combat missions, but it sent other forces in their place. .

Al-Duwairi explained that if these forces actually accomplished their tasks, there would be no need to send other forces to complete the mission, which indicates the contradiction in the occupation army’s announcement, and the existence of another reason for this withdrawal.

The military expert believes that the logical reason for this withdrawal is the decline in the combat efficiency of these forces to less than 60%, as is military custom, as after these losses, these forces are no longer able to continue fighting in those dense areas.

Total difference

Al-Duwairi pointed out that all the forces in the north had repositioned themselves, either by transferring them to other areas or withdrawing them completely, stressing that the nature of the fighting in the northern regions was completely different from what it was in the first phase and even after the end of the humanitarian truce.

He explained that there are no longer attacks in the north on a broad front, but rather limited and framed operations in terms of time and place, and driven by the emergence of resistance fighters, which they tended to do because fighting at a distance is not in their interest, and represents a losing equation in light of the limited weapons and their known ranges.

Regarding the increase in occupation video clips showing the evacuation of wounded, Al-Duwairi believes that this represents a message from the army that it is making great sacrifices, which reflects a dispute between the political wing and the military wing, which has increased its complaint about the ambiguity of the war’s goals.

Al-Duwairi attributed the increasing number of casualties among officers of the occupation army to two reasons: the first is the increase in the number of officers in the lower ranks of the army, and their incompetence in dealing with critical situations in combat.
