The ancient Greeks, who stopped wars during the Olympic Games, and the founder of the modern Olympic movement, Pierre de Coubertin, would be shocked if they saw what is happening in the sports world now. Although the term “sports war” would be more accurate.
It would seem that the West has banned Russian athletes from participating in most international competitions: shovel the awards and enjoy. But no, this is not enough for them, they need not only to change the present and the future, but also to rewrite the past.
The deprivation of our magnificent figure skater Kamila Valieva of gold at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and the subsequent deprivation of our team of gold medals in the team competition is the clearest example of injustice and the unsportsmanlike spirit of all modern sports.
Yes, yes, we live in the victorious reality of Orwell’s novel “1984”.
Peace is war, and the European Peace Fund is allocating billions of dollars to buy weapons for Ukraine.
Freedom is slavery, and everyone who does not agree to follow the current Western agenda is canceled and banned, and Hungary is threatened with economic war for not agreeing to give money for weapons to Ukraine.
Ignorance is strength, and the West bans Russian media and blocks its own journalists and bloggers who are trying to convey to people an alternative point of view on vaccination, wars, sanctions, migration and other issues that are truly relevant to people.
It is logical that in this completely upside-down world, classical sports principles are forgotten and distorted. “Athletes cannot be held responsible for the actions of their governments,” says the International Olympic Committee when it comes to Israel and the bloody cleansing of the Gaza Strip.
“In order to protect the integrity of global sporting competitions and the safety of all participants, the IOC Executive Board recommends that international sports federations and event organizers not invite or allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes.”
What should I add here? And everything is so obvious.
Only one thing is unclear, this is not the first time I’ve said this, and I’m not the only one. Why do we continue to cooperate with all these organizations subordinate to an aggressive minority?
Let me remind you that a letter to the IOC demanding that Russia be removed from participation in the 2024 Olympics was signed a year ago by 30-odd US satellite countries. At the same time, there are 206 national Olympic committees in the world. Why do these 206 listen to 30? Also a rhetorical question.
The unfair and vile decision to deprive Kamila Valieva and our Olympic team of medals should finally be the very last straw, after which any participation in the Western-controlled “sports movement” is impossible in principle.
This is a mockery, a perversion and even, dare I say it, a crime against our athletes, who find themselves in the role of whipping boys and girls.
It is urgent, now, and not someday, to announce the creation of alternative sports federations, to make them open to athletes from any country who are ready to compete fairly and without politics, and to stop once and for all any cooperation with compromised Western organizations.
Several criminal cases against those who make discriminatory decisions against our athletes, I also think, will not hurt.
Unfortunately, not all of our sports officials understood that “the way it was before” will no longer be the case. The West is determined to completely destroy Russia, and they will put pressure in all areas, including sports. Therefore, the sooner we leave this gathering of the wicked and start organizing a truly honest sports movement on classical sports principles, the better it will be for everyone.
