A former temporary employee of a subsidiary of NTT West leaked more than 9 million pieces of personal information from local governments and companies, including illegally taking customer information from companies in Okayama Prefecture and leaking it to a list agency. Interviews with investigators revealed that the prefectural police headquarters arrested a former temporary employee in his 60s on suspicion of violating the Unfair Competition Prevention Act.

Last year, a former temporary employee who was in charge of operation and maintenance of a call center system at NTT Business Solutions, a subsidiary of NTT West Japan, illegally stole approximately 9.28 million pieces of personal information held by 69 local governments and companies. revealed that it had been leaked.



Regarding this issue, the Okayama Prefectural Police Headquarters was consulted by a health food sales company in the prefecture, where approximately 4 million pieces of information may have been leaked, and the Okayama Prefectural Police Headquarters was contacted by a former temporary worker in his 60s from Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture. The investigation has proceeded by searching his home and analyzing the confiscated computer.



As a result, it was learned through interviews with investigative personnel that a former temporary employee was suspected of illegally taking customer information from the company and leaking it to a listing agent, and was arrested on suspicion of violating the Unfair Competition Prevention Act. .



Police believe that the former temporary employee sold personal information to multiple directory companies and received more than 10 million yen in return, and are investigating the details of the incident.



Regarding this issue, on January 24th, the government's Personal Information Protection Commission issued administrative guidance to the two related NTT West subsidiaries, demanding that they make improvements, claiming that they had failed to take appropriate measures.
