An exhibition of works by Hiroshi Kagakui, a picture book author known for works such as the Daruma-san series, is being held at a special needs school in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture.

Hiroshi Kagakui made his debut as a picture book author in 2005 at the age of 50, and left behind 16 works, including the Daruma-san series, in the four years until his death.



For nearly 30 years, including after becoming a picture book author, Kagakui has worked as an art teacher at special needs schools in Chiba Prefecture, and the exhibition will be held at one of these schools, Matsudo Special Needs School. It's open.



At the venue, in addition to published picture books and panels reflecting on the students' history, teaching materials such as dolls and musical instruments that they had made during their time as teachers were on display, and the students enjoyed touching the works themselves.



Tomoko Hada, a teacher who worked with Mr. Kagakui, said, ``I think this is a fun picture book that easily brings out the children's feelings and concentration.The teacher is kind and considers the children from their point of view, observing the children's spontaneous actions. It was,” he said.
