According to the report prepared by Ashraf Abu Amra, more than half a million people who live in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip suffer daily to obtain bread, as the Israeli bombing destroyed all the bakeries in the area, leaving only two working around the clock in an effort to meet the people’s needs.

Meanwhile, the government media office in Gaza stated that only 15 bakeries are now operating in all of the southern Gaza Strip.

The head of the Bakery Owners Association in Deir al-Balah, Abdel Nasser Al-Ajrami, said: All citizens of the Gaza Strip have become dependent on ready-made loaves of bread, due to the power outage and the lack of other cooking alternatives due to the Israeli siege.

He explained that bakeries in the Deir al-Balah region produce one million loaves of loaf, while the real need is two million loaves.
