Starting in the new fiscal year, Yokohama City will strengthen its efforts to support child-rearing, including launching a service that allows households with children to perform necessary administrative procedures and health consultations using a smartphone app.

Yokohama City Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka held a press conference on the 29th and announced the budget proposal for the new fiscal year.

As part of our child-rearing support measures, in June we launched a service for households with children that allows them to receive assistance with childbirth expenses, enroll in a nursery school, obtain information on vaccinations, and receive health consultations for pregnant women using a smartphone app. I'm planning to start with.

The city has included over 600 million yen in the new fiscal year's budget proposal to cover the costs necessary for this initiative.

In addition, as a measure against the so-called "elementary school wall" that makes it difficult to balance work and childcare, two elementary schools in the city will be taking care of children for free from 7 a.m. until the start of school. In addition to this, the plan is to start a model business where lunches can be provided for around 400 yen per meal at ``after-school daycare centers'' during the summer vacation.

The city plans to submit an initial budget proposal for the new fiscal year that includes these support measures to the city council meeting starting on the 30th.

Mayor Yamanaka said, ``I would like to create a comfortable place for parents and children by implementing initiatives that will directly lead to making it easier to raise children in Yokohama.''
