A 15-year-old was injured in an electric shock on the railway line between the Großkrotzenburg train stations in Hesse and Kahl am Main in Bavaria. On Monday he climbed onto a parked freight wagon and got too close to the overhead line, which was under high voltage, as the Federal Police Inspectorate in Frankfurt am Main announced. The boy fell to the ground after the electric shock and was taken to the hospital in Hanau after receiving first aid on site. No further information about the boy's health was initially available.

How the accident occurred is still being investigated, the federal police said. According to initial findings, the 15-year-old was playing with another young person in the railway area. According to federal police, the parents of the two boys were notified. The railway line was initially closed on both sides after the accident.

In this context, the Federal Police warned again: "Railways are not playgrounds!" The overhead lines of the railway carried 15,000 volts. That's 65 times more than in a standard socket. Simply staying near the overhead line could be fatal, as the current flowing could jump through a so-called arc or voltage arc.
