The real manager of a Tokyo-based company that operates drugstores and other businesses and a certified public accountant are accused of evading corporate tax of over 100 million yen by concealing profits of more than 430 million yen from land sales and other transactions. The person charged is Shirogane Higaki (82), executive director of Shirokane Medical Support, a company that operates pharmacies and drugstores in Minato Ward, Tokyo, and Shigeyoshi Higaki, 82, who is the company's tax accountant and handles tasks such as final tax returns. According to people involved, executive Higaki and certified public accountant Toda earned more than 430 million yen in company profits from real estate sales by recording fictitious expenses in the two years up to August 2021. The Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau filed a complaint with the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office on charges of violating the Corporate Tax Law, as the company is suspected of having evaded taxes of over 100 million yen.



The funds obtained through tax evasion were reportedly kept in director Higaki's personal savings account.



In response to an interview with NHK, Executive Officer Higaki commented, ``I have already filed an amended tax return and have almost paid my taxes.I am very sorry.''
