These are images that are almost unbearable: In the emergency room of the Sana Clinic in Berlin-Lichtenberg, three men attack the hospital staff on New Year's Eve. Now the »Berliner Zeitung« has published video recordings of the incident.
It shows the three men attacking the clinic staff. A man dressed in black hits a doctor so the face that he falls to the ground and remains lying down. A colleague arrives and wants to help the doctor, but he can't get up. Another man beats a caregiver. More people are added. Apparently, they are trying to restrain the attackers.
The police had said on Monday that the three attackers had been intoxicated. According to the report, they first verbally threatened the employees.
A 25-year-old patient and his two brothers, aged 16 and 20, became aggressive shortly after midnight because, in their view, the 25-year-old was not treated quickly enough and not properly. They then beat the doctor and a nurse.
The doctor suffered a head injury and was treated as an outpatient. The caregiver was also slightly injured in the head. Police officers took the three men into preventive custody and searched them. They found narcotics.
