On June 9, 2023, Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1982), People's Artist of the Russian Federation (1993), Academician of the Department of Graphics (1995) and member of the Presidium (1996) of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexei Dementievich Shmarinov passed away," the message says.
The Russian Academy of Arts noted that the artist was widely known not only in Russia, but also abroad.
His main themes of creativity were heroic history, modern life of Russia and the beauty of the Motherland.
"To see in nature and show in his works the divine beauty of the universe - such a super task was set in numerous landscape images by the author," the RAX added.
Earlier it was reported about the death of Soviet and American conceptual artist Ilya Kabakov at the age of 89 years.
