Sixteen works, including documentaries produced by NHK Sendai Broadcasting Station, were selected for this year's Hoso Bunka Foundation Award, which is given to individuals who have contributed to outstanding programs, distributed content, and the improvement of broadcasting technology.

For this year's Hoso Bunka Foundation Award, 251 works and 16 individuals and groups were selected from 14 entries and nominations received from all over Japan.

Among them,
in the ◇ Documentary Division, ▽ Hokkaido Broadcasting's "Who Decides Gender ~Looking at 'Life of the Heart'~" was selected as the grand prize,
which questioned what "gender" is through legal issues faced by transgender people.

▽The Excellence Award was given to NHK Sendai Broadcasting Station's "NHK Special Seaside Town Hospital ~Ogatsu-cho, Ishinomaki City 12 Years After the Earthquake~", which conveyed the voices of the bereaved families and colleagues of doctors and nurses who remained in the hospital to help patients during the Great East Japan Earthquake and were victims of the tsunami.
