Rosendal garden party debuted last year as a four-day festival on Djurgården in Stockholm. This year, the festival would continue on the same line, but now Johanna Beckman, content manager for Rosendal garden party, announces that day one is canceled.

– This is for us an incredible disappointment, I have never experienced anything like this to be honest, she says to SVT Kulturnyheterna and continues:

"Thursday was the festival day that disappeared, which is very, very strange.

Double defections

The reason is that afrobeat star Asake has now cancelled her performance on Thursday. This is after British star Stormzy and singer-songwriter Tiana Major9 last week cancelled their gig on the same day. Suddenly, only Cherrie remained on Thursday's line-up, leading to the festival scrapping the day.

"We just received an email from Asaki's team saying that they are unable to go any further and stating production technical reasons," says Johanna Beckman.

Does it have anything to do with Stormzy's cancelling?

"No, it doesn't seem like it. When it happened last week, we were in touch and they approved the move. Everything was on track.

Rosendal garden party is now investigating whether Cherrie can perform on one of the other festival days.

Money back

After Stormzy and Tiana Major9 cancelled, the festival announced that they are moving Thursday's festival day from Djurgården to Frihamnen, and making it a club night.

This is now cancelled, and everyone who bought a ticket gets their money back.

– It will be an automatic redemption for everyone, but everyone will also have the opportunity to go for free to our pre-party at the Garden with Sudan Archives and Orphée Noah this Wednesday, as a small plaster on the wounds, says Johanna Beckman.

Rosendal garden party's other festival days are carried out according to plan.
