The "Styrene Pick in Kyushu" competition, which competes for the speed of stacking Styrofoam boxes used to keep fish and vegetables cold, was held in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture.

The competition was held in Nichinan City on March 3, and was attended by about 8 employees of eight manufacturers that manufacture styrofoam containers from all over Kyushu.

The competition was held in an inter-company tournament format, and in the first event, participants competed to see how quickly they could stack bundles of Styrofoam boxes, which are used to keep fish and vegetables cold, to a predetermined height.

The height of the buildup will gradually increase to 40 steps for the qualifiers, 15 steps for the semi-finals, and 20 steps for the finals.

The participants usually work to pile up Styrofoam containers at work, but in a race against time, some of them knocked over the boxes they had piled up.

In addition, there was a relay that took a 15-meter round trip with stacked boxes, and there was laughter when the boxes collapsed and were restacked.

Kiyui Higuchi of a company in Fukuoka City, who won the competition to stack boxes, said, "Until now, I had only been able to load up to 19 steps, but I'm happy that I was able to stack 25 steps for the first time, and I want to win again next year."
