Twitch is a streaming platform with around 15 million users every day. To a large extent, it consists of different profiles broadcasting live when they play games. Popular streamers, or streamers, can have tens of thousands of active viewers during the broadcast, who can communicate with each other.

"All people online get hate. But women get more and a different kind of hate, says Emma, known as Swebliss, who has been a streamer for almost ten years and has about 235,000 followers on Twitch.

Harassment and death threats increasingly common

Last winter, SVT's editorial staff Edit received alarming reports that harassment and death threats are becoming more common on Twitch. They therefore gathered four of Sweden's largest female streamers to talk about the threats.

In the clip above, they talk about what they endure as female streamers.

Edit has repeatedly contacted Twitch who does not want to be interviewed. They respond by email that their software is clear and that they offer security tools to their streamers.
