A garbage truck overturned in a curve in Berlin-Marzahn and crashed into a lamppost. The vehicle of the Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) remained on its side on Wednesday morning. The three occupants of the garbage truck were slightly injured and treated in hospital, according to a fire department spokesman. Apart from the BSR employees, no one was injured in the accident, it said. According to the fire brigade, the salvage work was complicated. The road in the area was closed for a long time. Initially, it was unclear how long the mission would last.

According to the spokesman, the fire brigade was notified at around 7.15 a.m. 22 emergency personnel were deployed together with a crane. The firefighters secured the lantern. However, they could not set up the garbage truck. The crane of the fire brigade could lift a maximum of up to 30 tons, said a spokesman. Since saving human lives is the focus of their work, the fire brigade uses smaller cranes.

A private company should now be commissioned to recover the garbage truck, according to the fire department spokesman.
