Singer Billie Eilish defends herself against accusations that she sold her assets. In an Instagram story, she described critics as "women-hating weirdos."

The background to the outburst of emotion was apparently reactions to her supposed image change. The 21-year-old, who had worn rather loose clothes at the beginning of her career, has recently been seen more often in figure-hugging and more feminine outfits. At the 2023 Met Gala, for example, she wore a black, custom-made dress by Simone Rocha. Apparently, not everyone liked that.

In her statements, which spanned several stories, Eilish referred to a letter she received. "I spent the first five years of my career being absolutely wiped out by you idiots because I looked boyish and dressed the way I did," the singer wrote.

She was constantly told that she would be "hotter" if she behaved like a woman. Now she feels comfortable enough in her body to wear something tight-fitting. But then she is accused of having changed and being a traitor.

»Femininity is not synonymous with weakness«

In 2020, Eilish had said in an interview that she hated her body and only wore baggy clothes because of it. Now she demanded the right to dress the way she wanted.

"Did you know that women are versatile?" wrote Eilish. "Believe it or not, women can be interested in many things." She added that "femininity is not synonymous with weakness" and advised her fans that it is normal to want to express oneself differently at different stages of life.

Eilish insulted her unnamed critics as "bozos," which translates as "idiots." Let women exist," she appealed.

Eilish is considered one of the biggest music stars of our time. Already as a 17-year-old she stormed the charts with her debut album. In 2020, as an 18-year-old, she won Grammy Awards in all four main categories. In March 2022, she won an Oscar with her song "No Time To Die" for the Bond film "No Time to Die".
