Even before the meteorological start of summer, it will be extraordinarily sunny on the long Pentecost weekend. Temperatures above 25 degrees are expected into the coming week. Almost everywhere it will remain largely dry in the coming days with scattered clouds, as the German Weather Service predicted on Saturday. However, there could also be thunderstorms in the Alps.

"We have high-pressure influence from the eastern Atlantic over almost all of Western Europe," said a spokesman for the DWD. This is unlikely to change until Thursday. "That means a lot of sunshine every day," the spokesman said.

Temperatures between 22 and 27 degrees

On Pentecost Sunday, it will be mostly cheerful, the DWD said. In the south, the sun can be seen a little more often than in the north. For example, people in Rhineland-Palatinate, Thuringia, Hesse and Saarland are facing summer warmth. Temperatures rise to 22 to 27 degrees. The lows are between 12 and 8 degrees. During the night it will remain mostly clear, only clouds are expected in the north.

The DWD also expects bright weather and clouds on Whit Monday. According to the meteorologists, it will not rain. Temperatures reach a maximum of 21 degrees in the north and 26 degrees in the Vorderpfalz. On the North Sea coast, however, it remains much fresher at 14 degrees, according to the DWD. It will also be warm in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. Also on Tuesday it will be sunny with highs between 20 and 25 degrees. Only in the north and over the mountains can clouds form intermittently.

Temperature rise on Wednesday

According to the data of the DWD, there are still signs of a rise in temperature on Wednesday. Thursday is the 1st of June, i.e. the meteorological beginning of summer. "It is possible that there will also be a summer day," said the spokesman. Meteorologists always speak of a summer day when the temperature rises above 25 degrees.
