In 2011, the Tunchang County Government focused on building an oil painting pedestrian street, mobilizing and attracting painters who worked hard abroad to return to their hometowns and start businesses by introducing oil painting talents, reducing or reducing gallery rents, and giving support policies.

"There are 25 galleries and 56 painters in the oil painting pedestrian street." Chen Chuantao, president of the Tunchang Oil Painting Association, said that the development of the oil painting pedestrian street is not a smooth road. In recent years, due to the epidemic, great changes in the market, the weak foundation of existing artists, weak original ability, and the lack of green and yellow after the suspension of Yanpuxuan Art School, the development of Tunchang oil painting industry has been hindered.

In order to solve the problems encountered in the development of Tunchang oil painting industry, since 2022, the Hainan Provincial Artists Association has provided targeted training and assistance to the Tunchang oil painting industry, and has repeatedly organized experts and teachers to conduct research and discussion on the Tunchang oil painting industry, establish oil painting study training courses, hold work observation and exchange meetings, open art lectures and other series of activities to help Tunchang painters improve their aesthetic awareness, innovation ability and creative skills.

In 2022, Tunchang County issued the "Tunchang County High-level Professional Talent Studio Construction Management Measures", aiming to deeply implement the strategy of strengthening the county with talents and innovate the talent training model. The county government will give financial support to the studio to ensure the construction of talent echelons. Chen Chuantao's Tunchang County Oil Painting Art Chen Chuantao Famous Master Studio has 18 people, aiming to cultivate creative talents from theory, creative skills and research through the guidance of famous teachers, hoping to change the home-workshop training mode and inject new vitality into the development of Tunchang oil painting industry. "As the level increases, the popularity will also increase, which will help us sell paintings." Chen Chuantao said.

"Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts opened an art talent support program for us in April this year." Chen Chuantao told reporters with a smile that in this talent support project, Tunchang County recommended ten painters to Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts for further study, receive professional painting training in the university system, and return to their hometowns after completing their studies, driving more painters to improve. "In addition, Shinawatra University will also sponsor all participants to go to Thailand for study tours to experience the oil painting styles of foreign countries, learn from each other's strengths and integrate them." He said.

Xianliu Village, known as the "hometown of painting", is the "cradle" of Tunchang peasant painters. Chen Yi, secretary of the party branch of Xianliu Village, said: "Four days a week, painters from Oil Painting Pedestrian Street will come to Liuhe Painting Club to teach children in the village and surrounding villages on a voluntary basis, so that they can learn a craft, and more importantly, cultivate children's interest in oil painting and create a strong atmosphere of oil painting." ”

In recent years, the painters of Tunchang Oil Painting Pedestrian Street have actively carried out industrial transformation, from order decoration paintings, to special customization, painted decorative murals, framing and order commodity oil paintings, etc., and also used online media resources to further broaden the sales market, the business scope includes export oil painting lists, domestic hotel matching paintings and various engineering matching paintings, etc., with an annual output value of about 700 million yuan.

Artist Wang Li, who returned to Oil Painting Pedestrian Street in 2012 to open a shop to sell paintings, said: "A painting generally sells for hundreds to thousands of yuan, such as complex craftsmanship and customized works can reach tens of thousands of yuan. ”

Talking about the future, Chen Chuantao hopes that the government can cooperate in investment by introducing high-quality oil painting enterprises, expand the market, integrate the oil painting industry chain, reopen the suspended oil painting schools, and make Tunchang's oil painting industry bigger and stronger.
