Authorities in Peru have seized 58 kilograms of cocaine in packages with Nazi symbols on the packaging. The drugs were on their way to Belgium, police said.

The cocaine was found in a boat flying the Liberian flag in the northern port city of Paita, near the border with Ecuador. The drugs were hidden in 50 brick-sized packets, each with a swastika on them, according to images released by police.

Some packages had been opened and showed the inscription "Hitler" as a relief on the white powder. The police have not yet provided any information on whether there have been any arrests.

The boat with the cocaine had reportedly come from Guayaquil. The Ecuadorian port city is considered an important hub for drug smuggling to the USA and Europe. Peru is considered the largest cocaine producer in the world after Colombia.
