The average number of patients per medical institution in the week ending May 5 was 21.1, which is 1.3 times higher than the previous week. The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare said, "Although it is at a relatively low level, the moderate increase trend continues, and the number of newly hospitalized people is increasing, so we would like to monitor the infection situation in the future."

According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the number of new coronavirus patients reported by about 21,1 medical institutions nationwide in the week ending March 5000 increased by 4567,1 from the previous week to 7489,1.

The average number of patients per medical institution was 3.56, 1.35 times higher than the previous week.

This is the seventh consecutive week of increase from the previous week.

By prefecture, Okinawa had 7.10 people, Ishikawa had 8.6 people, Iwate Prefecture had 38.6 people, Niigata Prefecture had 32.6 people, and Yamanashi Prefecture had 11.5 people, increasing from the previous week in 68 prefectures.

In addition, 42,21 new hospitalizations were recorded nationwide in the week ending March 1, an increase of 3215 from the previous week.

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has stated that the epidemic situation nationwide is "at a relatively low level, but it has been on a moderate upward trend since April, and the number of newly hospitalized people has increased, so we would like to monitor the infection situation in the future."
