On suspicion of dangerous bodily injury, special forces of the Saxon State Office of Criminal Investigation (LKA) have provisionally arrested a 24-year-old in Jena. The accused is suspected of having attacked and injured a political opponent in March 2021 with members of the left-wing extremist spectrum in Eilenburg (district of North Saxony), the LKA announced on Thursday in Dresden. The Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office had investigated.

In addition, the special forces of the Police Extremism and Terrorism Defense Center searched three properties in the Jena area. After the 24-year-old was brought before the magistrate, he dropped the arrest warrant under conditions.

During the searches, evidence in the form of storage media, mobile phones, pyrotechnics, pepper spray and radios is said to have been found. According to the LKA, the assessment and evaluation will take some time.
