After heavy rainfall, a man was killed in the southern Italian province of Avellino in Campania. In parts of the province near Naples, heavy downpours began on Thursday afternoon. According to the initial findings, the man was run over by his own car, which in turn was swept away by the masses of water on the road, as reported by the news agencies Ansa and Adnkronos. The man had previously been reported missing.

As could be seen on videos of the Italian fire brigade, roads and country roads were partly flooded after heavy rain and hail, masses of water made their way. According to their own statements, the firefighters are still busy with rescue measures. The worst affected municipalities are Forino, Celzi and Montoro.

Just last week, there were floods in the north of Italy. At least 15 people died.
