• Music Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the New York Philharmonic from 2026

Gustavo Dudamel announced on Thursday his resignation as music director of the Paris Opera at the end of the current 2022/23 season to "be able to spend more time with my family".

The Venezuelan conductor had signed with the Paris Opera in 2021 for a period of 6 years.

In 2026 he will leave the Los Angeles Philharmonic to join the New York Philharmonic.

"It has been a privilege to share such beautiful moments" with the artists of the institution during the last two seasons, said the Venezuelan conductor in a statement from the Paris Opera.

"I have no other projects than to be with mine. I am deeply grateful to them for their support in my goal to grow and improve myself," he added.

Dudamel, considered the most influential Spanish-speaking conductor internationally of modern times, is married to Spanish actress María Valverde.
