A missing 44-year-old boatman has been recovered dead from the Baltic Sea. As the police in Neubrandenburg announced on Tuesday evening, the man from the island of Rügen had taken a trip with his motorboat on Monday evening. When he did not show up for work on Tuesday, his colleague informed the police.
This launched a search operation, in which several sea rescue boats and a police helicopter were also involved. At first, the emergency services found only the empty sports boat on Tuesday afternoon, but shortly afterwards the crew of the helicopter also spotted the lifeless man in the shallow water between Rügen and Hiddensee.
According to the information, he could only be recovered dead. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident and the cause of death continued.
