Amid a series of troubles in which information of another person is linked to My Number in various places, Kitakyushu City announced on the 3th that there have been a total of three mistakes in registering information for "public money receiving account" and "cashless payment" from last year to this year.

In the "Minor Point Phase 2" promoted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, points worth up to 2,2 yen will be awarded through a cashless payment service by obtaining a My Number Card and registering an account to receive public funds.

According to Kitakyushu City, in February last year, it was found that the information of another person's public money receiving account was linked to the My Number of a person who used the MynaPoint support counter at the Yahata Higashi Ward Office.

After it was found, it was corrected immediately, and the benefits were never actually transferred.

In addition, we found two cases in which another person's "cashless payment" information was mistakenly registered at the Kokura Minami Ward Office counter in September last year and at the Yahata Nishi Ward Office counter in February this year.

In each case, points were awarded to different people, and in the case of February this year, points were adjusted between the two because the destination of the points could be identified, but in the case of September last year, it could not be identified, and the business operator entrusted with the counter service compensated.

In all three cases, it is caused by the next person's procedure without logging out of the screen of the device to be registered.

The city had reported the problem to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Digital Agency, but had not made it public until now.

As for the reason, he explained, "As a result, there was no actual harm, so we did not disclose it, but we made it public so as not to cause anxiety to the citizens amid a series of troubles in various places."

Two troubles in Oita City last year

Regarding the "public money receiving account" that is registered by linking it to My Number, it has been revealed that there was a problem that was mistakenly registered in another person's My Number, and Oita City revealed that two such troubles occurred last year.

According to an announcement by Oita City, two cases were discovered in November last year in which the My Number of another person was mistakenly linked to the registration of a "public money receiving account" through this support window set up at the city hall.

After completing the registration procedure using the dedicated website at the city counter, the account was registered in another person's My Number because the next person continued the procedure without logging out. It means that there have been no confirmed cases of money being deposited to the incorrectly registered account.

Oita City commented, "We apologize for the anxiety caused to the citizens by registering the public fund receiving account, and we will make efforts to prevent recurrence by confirming that you have been logged out after completing the procedure and guiding the next user."
