Four years ago, the first studio of Kyoto Animation in Kyoto City was set on fire, killing 4 employees, and the bereaved families and the company decided to erect a monument to tell the incident in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, where the company's headquarters are located.

In July 2019, Kyoto Animation's first studio in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto City, was set on fire, killing 7 employees and seriously injuring 1 others.

According to the lawyer representing the company, the bereaved families and the company have begun considering erecting a monument in Uji City, where the company's headquarters are located, separate from the site of the studio at the site, as a symbol of the incident, the existence of the victims, and their gratitude for the many support.

Aiming to install the system in open places such as publicly managed parks, there have been requests from company employees to propose multiple designs that express their feelings for their colleagues.

In order to conduct a full-scale study, the bereaved families and companies will set up a new organization and hold its first meeting in July, and we hope to compile a draft request to the local government and others during this year.

And the aim is to install it by July 7, 5, which is five years after the incident occurred.

On the other hand, regarding the site of the studio at the site, the company envisions the erection of a cenotaph in the future, but it is not expected to be open to the public if it becomes a situation where it is expected to be used as a business site for the company.

The bereaved families of the animators who died in the incident said, "By erecting the monument, we hope that the thoughts of the 36 people who died in the incident and whose dreams were cut short will be passed on to future generations."
