At the Peace Park in Hiroshima City, where the leaders of each country visited at the G7 Hiroshima Summit, work was carried out to remove a list of the victims of the atomic bombing from the cenotaph and let the wind pass through it.

This work was carried out one week later than usual due to the G7 Hiroshima Summit, which was carried out so that the list of victims stored at the Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims in Hiroshima City would not be damaged by moisture.

On the morning of the 24th, 19 city officials offered a moment of silence in front of the monument at 8:15 a.m., the time the atomic bomb was dropped, and then took out the list of 124 books and laid them out on a white cloth.

The list included the names of 8,5 people who were exposed to the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and died by August 33 last year, and the staff turned the pages one by one to check for damage while letting the wind through.

On the occasion of the G3907 Hiroshima Summit, the leaders of various countries visited the Peace Park and laid flowers at the cenotaph to commemorate the victims.

Tatsuya Sumita, director of the Research Division of the Hiroshima City Atomic Bomb Damage Countermeasures Department, said, "I hope that many people will realize the tragedy of nuclear weapons from the large number of lists lined up while the heads of state visit each country attract attention."

From next month, the names of the newly deceased will be added and placed in the cenotaph on August 1.
