Kenneth Anger, born in 1927, was one of Hollywood's first openly gay filmmakers and, according to Variety, made films with eroticism and homosexual themes when homosexuality was still banned in the United States.

Anger was also a convinced Satanist and had "Lucifer" tattooed across his chest. In his 1972 film "Lucifer rising", his friend Marianne Faithfull acted.

Anger is also said to be the father of "jump cuten" – that is, when you abruptly jump from one image to another – and for using pop as a soundtrack in his films, writes Britannica.

Wrote questioned gossip book

However, Kenneth Anger became best known for the gossip book "Hollywood Babylon", published in 1959. In it, he detailed scandals involving the biggest stars of the time, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland and Charlie Chaplin. Since its publication, the book has been strongly questioned.

In 1984, Anger released a sequel to the book.

Angers' death is confirmed by his gallerist who writes: "His cinematic genius and influence will live on and change all who encounter his films, words and visions".
