The entrepreneur Jan Stenbeck is mainly known for founding several technology and media companies during the 1900s.

Among other things, he is behind Sweden's first commercial TV channels, TV3 and ZTV, and he also founded the telecom operator Tele2 and the free newspaper Metro.

Now his life will be portrayed in the drama series "Stenbeck" starring Norwegian actor Jakob Oftebro, which is supposed to air only in 2025.

"Stenbeck is about a family, but it's also about the development of society as a whole from the 70s to today," says lead screenwriter Alex Haridi in a press release.

"Knutby" director at the helm

The projects were presented during the Cannes Film Festival and will follow Stenbeck from 1977 to 1992 in five episodes, during this period Jan Stenbeck took over the family business Kinnevik and outmanoeuvred his sister Margaretha af Ugglas.

Goran Kapetanović will direct the series, he has previously worked on the series "Knutby" and "Kalifat". In a press release, he says he hopes to create a strong emotional bond between character and audience.

"I'm constantly looking for stories that can be told with energy, desire, vulnerability and hunger. Jan Stenbeck's life story contains all this and much more, says Goran Kapetanović.

Jan Stenbeck's entry into Sweden's spotlight took place in 1983 when, after a harrowing inheritance dispute, he took over the family business Investment AB Kinnevik.
