The Tokyo District Court has sentenced two former executives of advertising giant ADK Holdings, who are accused of bribing a former director of the organizing committee of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, to suspended sentences, saying they "left a stain on the Games that attracted worldwide attention."

are former directors of the Organizing Committee for the purpose of facilitating sponsorship contracts for the Tokyo Games with former President Shinichi Ueno (69). He was accused of bribery by bribing defendant Haruyuki Takahashi (79) of approximately 1400 million yen.

In his ruling on the 11th, Tokyo District Court Presiding Judge Masahiro Tomoshige pointed out that the fair and proper operation of the Games, which attracted worldwide attention, had been greatly undermined and left a stain on the country.

Both received three-year suspended sentences.

In connection with the Tokyo Games, a total of 3 people, including former director Takahashi who is accused of bribery, and founders and top executives of five major companies in the industry, have been indicted, bringing the sentence to five.

The three former executives of AOKI Holdings, including former AOKI Holdings Chairman Hironori Aoki, 5, who were first sentenced, have been convicted of suspended prison terms ranging from one to two years and six months.

After handing down the verdict, the presiding judge told the two men, "I think that this incident was caused as a result of pursuing profits as a company employee, but I strongly felt that I could not stop somewhere.
