Do not miss the broadcast of Mom, do not let me fall asleep, this Wednesday, April 26 on France 2. Adapted from Juliette Boudre's eponymous story, this poignantTV movie tells the tragic story of her son Joseph, who died in 2016 as a result of his addiction to anxiolytics.

A mother ready to do anything for her son

The descent into hell of the young boy begins the day he consults a doctor after having an anxiety attack triggered by a "firecracker too strong". The health professional prescribes, as a short-term treatment, Xanax, a powerful anxiolytic. Day by day, Joseph (Nemo Schiffman in the film) becomes more and more dependent on this drug. When her mother Juliette (Gwendoline Hamon) understands that her child has become addicted, she is at first distraught, then decides to fight to help her get out of it.

Driven by her unconditional love for her son, Juliette will never give up on saving him. His fight will unfortunately be in vain: after months of struggle, marked by passages in detox, Joseph has a cardiac arrest following an overdose of drugs.

A film that raises awareness of the dangers of taking opioids

Directed by actress Sylvie Testud, Maman, ne me pas m'en let me fall asleep shows with great accuracy (and a lot of emotion) a mother's love for her son and her helplessness in the face of her addictions. The TV movie also tells the story of the end of innocence, that of Joseph, a teenager who had life ahead of him, and the unfailing resilience of his mother Juliette.

With Maman, ne me pas me d'asleep, Sylvie Testud also raises awareness of a subject that is very little talked about in France: the dangers of taking opioids. The broadcast of the TV movie will also be followed by a debate moderated by Julian Bugier. The journalist's guests will discuss several themes: anxieties related to adolescence, drug addiction, and the helplessness of the entourage.

Mom, don't let me fall asleep, it's tonight at 21:10 p.m. on France 2.
