Written by Cheng Jingwei Lin Yin

Mangrove forest is known as "sea forest" and "sea guard". This viviparous woody plant rooted in the intertidal zone of the coast not only protects against wind and waves, purifies the sea, and provides a habitat for fish, shrimp and birds.

"Mangroves are a 'national treasure', and they should be guarded as well as their eyes." A few days ago, Chen Junguang, secretary of the party group and director of the Guangdong Forestry Bureau, said in an interview with reporters that Guangdong will strengthen forestry ecological construction in an all-round, all-region and whole-process manner, comprehensively improve the quality and service functions of forest and grass wet ecosystems, and collaborate to create an ecological picture of sky blue, ground green, clean water and scenic beauty, so that the green beauty ecology becomes a universal people's livelihood and well-being, and promote the construction of a green beauty Guangdong model of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

Strong protection, building a "mangrove city"

Located in Huguang Town, Mazhang District, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, the Jinniudao mangrove area is like a "sea forest". Here, the mangrove forest is full of greenery, which is pleasant. People walk wooden bridges, take green boats, and watch birds, which is quite pleasant.

Zhang Wei, deputy director of the Zhanjiang Mangrove National Nature Reserve Management Bureau, said that the ecological restoration of mangroves in the reserve is mainly based on natural restoration, coupled with appropriate human intervention, so that mangroves can grow better. "In the future, I will continue to improve my professionalism and management capabilities, improve the accuracy and scientificity of mangrove protection, and contribute to mangrove protection." Zhang Wei said.

On the coast, the sea breeze blows, the trees sway, and the birds chirp. Zhanjiang has now become a microcosm of Guangdong's vigorous protection of mangroves, providing more typical experiences and cases for the protection and restoration of mangroves in Guangdong Province and even in China.

In recent years, Zhanjiang has taken the construction of a "mangrove city" as the starting point, strengthened the protection of mangrove ecosystems and concentrated continuous restoration, and embarked on a high-quality development path of ecological priority, green and low-carbon. According to reports, at present, the total area of Zhanjiang Mangrove National Nature Reserve is 20278.8 hectares, of which 7228 hectares are mangrove forests, accounting for 33% of the total area of mangroves in the country, which is the largest and most concentrated nature reserve in China.

For more than 20 years, Zhanjiang has planted nearly 1500,2002 hectares of mangrove forests, providing more living space for more organisms. According to the survey, the number of bird species recorded in Zhanjiang has increased from 194 in 312 to <> this year.

Various measures have been taken at the same time, and the protection of the "national treasure" mangrove forest has achieved remarkable results

As the province with the largest distribution area of mangroves and one of the areas with the richest mangrove species in China, Guangdong has 1,06 hectares of mangrove forests, accounting for 39.3% of the total mangrove area in the country. There are 18 species of mangrove plants in 24 families, 27 genera, accounting for 73% of the mangrove plant species in China. Mangroves are distributed in 14 coastal prefectures and prefecture-level markets in the province, among which Zhanjiang Leizhou Peninsula, Yangjiang Chengcunwan, Jiangmen Town Bay, Zhuhai Qiao Island, Huizhou Kaozhouyang and other areas are more concentrated.

"As a forestry ecological construction worker, we can only firmly shoulder the political responsibility of building a modern society in which man and nature live in harmony, and interpret the mission of Guangdong's ecological civilization construction with actions." Chen Junguang said.

Chen Junguang introduced that the Department of Natural Resources of Guangdong Province and the Forestry Bureau of Guangdong Province jointly issued the "Special Plan for the Protection and Restoration of Mangroves in Guangdong Province", which made systematic deployment and provided solutions for scientifically improving the quality of mangrove ecosystems, comprehensively improving coastal ecological security security capabilities, and orderly enhancing the construction of blue carbon ecosystems.

Up to now, Guangdong has established 3 wetlands of international importance and 2 wetlands of provincial importance with mangroves as the main protection objects. There are 47 nature reserves with mangrove distribution, 2 national nature reserves, 5 provincial nature reserves and 6 national wetland parks with mangroves as the main protection objects.

Land and sea coordinate to create a beautiful business card of green beauty Guangdong ecological construction

Chen Junguang said that Guangdong will actively explore the construction of beautiful mountains and rivers coordinated by land and sea, comprehensively improve the quality and service functions of wetland ecosystems such as mangroves, and make the protection and restoration of mangroves into a beautiful business card for the ecological construction of green beauty Guangdong, and make Guangdong contributions to the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

At the same time, Guangdong will fully support Shenzhen in building the "International Mangrove Center", support the construction of China (Shenzhen) Mangrove Wetland Museum, and improve the hardware facilities of the International Mangrove Center; Actively expand international exchanges and cooperation on mangrove protection and restoration, and jointly hold international and regional mangrove protection forums.

According to the Special Plan for the Protection and Restoration of Mangroves in Guangdong Province, Guangdong has coordinated and improved the mechanism for the protection and restoration of mangroves, systematically strengthened the overall protection of mangroves, scientifically implemented the construction and restoration of mangroves, and deeply implemented six key projects, including the mangrove protection project, the mangrove quality improvement project, and the 10,000-mu-level mangrove demonstration area creation project.

The plan proposes that by 2025, Guangdong will build 5500,2500 hectares of mangrove forests, restore 4,1 hectares of mangroves, and establish four 61,<>-mu-level mangrove demonstration areas, with mangrove reserves reaching <>,<> hectares. (End)
