On Monday, April 17, 2023, Prime Video unveiled the very first trailer of the event series "The Idol", which will be presented out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival. We had never seen her like this... Lily-Rose Depp, the pretty blonde with the baby face and the sulky pout, comes out of her shell and becomes a femme fatale in the trailer of the event series The Idol, unveiled Monday, April 17, 2023 and posted online by Amazon Prime Video.

Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd in a toxic relationship

In the video, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, muse of the house Chanel, conne for her elegance, assumes her sexy side by dancing languidly in small outfits. The images of the young woman and her partner, pop star The Weeknd, follow one another frantically on the heady and very sulphurous rhythm of Gimme More, Britney Spears' hit.

The choice of this song owes nothing to chance: the journey of Jocelyn, the character played by Lily-Rose Depp in The Idol, is reminiscent of that of Britney. "After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn's (Lily-Rose Depp) last tour, she is determined to claim her rightful status as America's tallest and sexiest pop star," reads the synopsis presented by HBO. "His passions are rekindled by Tedros (Abel The Weeknd Tesfaye), a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will his romantic awakening lead him to new glorious heights or to the unfathomable darkness of his soul?" The plot of The Idol focuses on the toxic relationship between Jocelyn and Tedros.

A sulphurous series... which is already controversial

Since the announcement of its release, the series, which will be presented out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival next month, has been the subject of much ink... In early March, The Idol created controversy in Hollywood following the publication of a Rolling Stone investigation.

According to the American magazine, several incidents took place during filming. Director Amy Seimetz reportedly left the project in April 2022 when the first six episodes of the season were almost canned. One thing is certain: the series will scandalize and therefore be very watched. It will be available on Prime Video via the Warner Pass from June 5.
