Holy Week is one of the pre-summer festivities that allow the first getaways of the year. Italy, Northern Ireland, France or Portugal are some of the most visited and preferred destinations by users to make a road trip during the holidays, according to a study by carwow, a new vehicle comparator leader in the market.

1. From Mont Saint-Michel to Bordeaux (France)

France is the country that receives more foreign tourists for places like Mont Saint-Michel, a small town built on a small rocky island located at the mouth of the Couesnon River, in Normandy. Driving south is the city of Nantes which, with its Palace of Justice, its Gothic cathedral and the museum in honor of Jules Verne becomes a mandatory stop on the road trip. Finally, at the end of the road is Bordeaux, a city that preserves fragments of its old medieval wall as well as its cathedral in honor of St. Andrew or the basilica dedicated to San Severino, among many other outstanding monuments that make this city in the south of France an unavoidable option.

2. Amalfi Coast (Italy)

This route is formed by a set of small fairytale villages built along cliffs bathed by the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Towns such as Ravello, Atrani, Positano and Amalfi itself are located along winding roads which makes them absolute must of any road trip worth its salt in this area of Italy.

3. São Miguel Island (Azores, Portugal)

This beautiful island is the largest and most populated of the Azores archipelago in Portugal and it is not surprising, since its impressive landscapes that combine sea, nature and cliffs are worth contemplating, and more with the window down from the car and enjoying the breeze. In the west of the island is also the town of Sete Cidades, one of the essentials if you opt for this route by car this Easter, since it has beautiful viewpoints such as the Miradouro do Vista do Rey from which it is possible to see in all its splendor the famous Caldera de las Sete Cidades that is located inside a volcanic crater and is formed by two small lagoons (Rasa and do Santiago) and two larger ones (Lagoa Azuk and Lagora Rosa).

4. Mourne Coast (Northern Ireland)

Nature lovers should not miss the mountains located on the coast of Mourne, in Northern Ireland. Despite the relatively flat landscape that characterizes the island of Ireland, this area located only one hour south of Belfast is perfect for all kinds of outdoor activities as well as to get behind the wheel and visit charming places such as Newscatle, the Saddle between Donard and Commedagh or Slieve Donard, the highest mountain in Northern Ireland.

5. From Porto to Lisbon (Portugal)

Housed on the banks of the Douro River, Porto, with its wineries, narrow alleys and sunsets, has a special charm. Like Coimbra, Sintra or Aveiro, better known as the Portuguese Venice. All of them can be easily reached by driving. At the end of the road it is mandatory to make a stop in Lisbon to enjoy the enormous cultural and artistic heritage of the Portuguese capital.
