The active job openings-to-applicants ratio in February was 2.1, 34.0 points lower than the previous month and declining for the second consecutive month, and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) believes that people continue to look for jobs in the hope of better treatment amid the prevailing mood of wage increases.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the active job openings-to-applicants ratio, which indicates how many job offers there are for each person seeking work, was 1.2 times the national average in February, 1.34 points lower than the previous month.

The number of job offers from companies increased by 0.01% from the previous month, but the number of job seekers increased by 0.8%, making it the second consecutive month that the active job openings-to-applicants ratio has fallen below the previous month.

Looking
at the active job openings-to-applicants ratio by prefecture by place of employment, the highest was 1.6 times in Fukui Prefecture, 2.1 times in Shimane Prefecture, and 91.1 times in Kanagawa Prefecture and
84.1 times in Osaka Prefecture.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, "Amid the prevailing mood of wage increases, people continue to look for jobs in the hope of better treatment, and although the ratio of job offers has declined, we do not believe that the employment situation is deteriorating.
