Zhiduo County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, the "first county of the Yangtze River", is famous as the "Kingdom of Wild Animals".

"Kajanyara is the world of wild yaks, Lechilema is the kingdom of Tibetan antelopes, Tsochi and Bangyong are the festival grounds of birds, Mother Spring is the home of Tibetan wild asses, and smoky miasma is the paradise of snow leopards"... According to a popular local folklore, the source area of the Yangtze River has been a kingdom inhabited and bred by wild animals since ancient times.

Soga Township, Zhiduo County, is more than 100 kilometers away from the county seat and is known as the "Soga of the Sky" because of its beautiful scenery and long distances.

Dotted with rivers and lakes and criss-crossed by glacial meadows, Soga rivers and lakes provide important habitats and migration channels for wild animals such as Tibetan antelopes, snow leopards, wild yaks, and Tibetan wild asses, making it a veritable "animal kingdom".

Moqu Village, Soga Township, Zhiduo County, nearly 5000,<> meters above sea level, has a steep mountain with towering rock walls pointing to the sky. "Look, Rock Sheep!" Hash Tsering Chen Lai (hereinafter referred to as: Hash) shouted, and in the direction of his finger, several rock sheep jumped over the cliff and merged with the ochre-brown mountain rock, which could only be distinguished if you looked closely.

In winter or summer, Hashi and his herders and neighbors form a "horseback" patrol team of more than 30 people, wandering through the mountains and valleys, collecting garbage and observing wildlife.

"It's more convenient to ride a horse than to drive, and you don't miss corners." He previously said, "Patrolling the mountains at least twice a week, once taking a full day." The most common is the rock sheep, brown bears and snow leopards are relatively rare. ”

Every time he encounters wild animals, Hash has to take pictures with his mobile phone, record the number and location in the book, write down the mountain patrol log, and regularly feedback it to the township and county.

In Zhiduo County, the well-known Tibetan antelope is known as the "Plateau Spirit". Since the late 20s of the 80th century, Tibetan antelope has suffered unprecedented large-scale poaching, and the number has plummeted from 20,2 to less than <>,<>. In the face of frenzied poaching, Jesan Sonandaj, who came to the autonomous multi-county, took on the sacred duty of nature protector with his life.

From the Western Working Committee of Zhiduo County, to the Kekexili National Nature Reserve, to the successful declaration of World Natural Heritage... Over the years, generations of rulers have come to protect the land where their ancestors fought. Today, there are no more poaching gunshots in Kokoxili, and the Tibetan antelope homeland is a peaceful and peaceful scene.

Wild yak is one of the most representative wild animals on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, a very valuable plateau breed, a national key protected wild animal, and known as "Snow Mountain Tianjiao".

As a feline, the snow leopard has gray-white hair, which is thick and fluffy and soft. They often move in the snow, so they are called "snow leopards". Soga is known as the "Snow Leopard Mother Land" and is also the origin of snow leopard protection in Sanjiangyuan.

A few years ago, while looking at the footage on an infrared camera's memory card, Hash was pleasantly surprised to find snow leopards up close. Not only me, but others have also photographed brown bears and wolves. This image has been kept in his mobile phone.

As early as 1996, four major protected areas in Sojia Township were established here, and later created "Junqu Village Tibetan Wild Donkey Protection Festival", "Moqu Village Snow Leopard Protection Festival" and "Yaqu Village Wetland Bird Protection Festival" with environmental significance and cultural connotations. Soga's unique geographical and climatic conditions have fostered unique biodiversity, is a sanctuary for the endemic flora and fauna of the highlands, and a paradise for wildlife.

In Hash's view, the value of ecological stewards cannot be measured in income alone: "Water connects life, and it is incumbent upon us to protect the source, and this is the birthplace of 'environmental champion' Jesan Sonandaj, and we, as his descendants, must continue this work." (End)
