On March 13, police from the Mengman Border Police Station of the Border Management Detachment in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province received a report that one of the Asian elephants accidentally fell into a deep puddle while they were playing in the jungle.
When the police arrived at the scene, they saw that the elephant that fell into the pit was trying to climb out of the pit. Another Asian elephant on the bank rolled its trunk, kicked the soil with its feet, and stretched out its feet to its companion. Too deep, the walls of the pit are almost vertical and slippery, and the trapped elephants have not been able to escape.
Seeing this situation, the police immediately contacted the local government, Forestry and Grassland Bureau, Forest Police Brigade and other departments to evacuate the surrounding people and sent drones to observe.
Seeing that the elephant was unable to rescue itself, multiple departments discussed and decisively contacted the nearest excavator.
After the excavator arrived at the scene, it drove to the side of the water hole to dig out a slope. Finally, the elephant climbed out of the water hole smoothly.
It is understood that the trapped Asian elephant is an adult elephant, and has safely returned to the nature reserve after escaping.
