Moritomo Gakuen's former president Kagoike and his wife appeared at the Osaka High Public Prosecutor's Office on the morning of the 13th after being sentenced to prison for defrauding the government of subsidies.

He is expected to be sent to prison in the future.

Yasunori Kagoike (70), the former chairman of Moritomo Gakuen, and his wife, Ryoko Kagoike (66), appeared before the prosecution.



The two were charged with fraud and other crimes for defrauding them of more than 170 million yen in subsidies from the national government, Osaka Prefecture, and Osaka City in connection with the construction of an elementary school and the operation of a kindergarten. The court confirmed a sentence of 5 years in prison and 2 years and 6 months in prison.



In the future, it is expected that he will be transferred to the Osaka Detention House and will be held in prison.

Kagoike and his wife held a press conference in Kita Ward, Osaka, before appearing in court, saying, "The ruling following the national policy investigation into our couple is aimed at preventing the investigation into the truth behind the Moritomo Gakuen incident. I can't, but I will respect and obey the country's legal system."
