The 95th Oscars ceremony, awarded by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for services to cinematography, took place in the Los Angeles Dolby Theater in the United States.

Contrary to tradition, this time the red carpet was replaced with a champagne carpet for the first time since 1961.

In addition, Hollywood stars walked on it indoors, and not outdoors, as in previous years.

Thus, the organizers intended to protect the guests from bad weather and turn the daytime celebration into an "evening" one.

Comedian and screenwriter Jimmy Kimmel hosted the event for the third time.

He also hosted ceremonies in 2017 and 2018.

In his speech, the comedian did not miss the opportunity to mention last year's scandal with Will Smith, who slapped Chris Rock in the face for a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Kimmel assured that if someone in the theater resorted to violence, he would certainly be awarded as the best actor and given the opportunity to deliver a speech lasting 19 minutes.

He also urged the Oscars special crisis team to do "nothing" in the event of unforeseen circumstances, as they did last year.

The American Film Academy recognized as the best picture of the year the fantastic comedy-adventure-drama action movie directed by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert "Everything is everywhere and at once" about an immigrant, on whose shoulders the salvation of the multiverse fell.

Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress for her lead role.

In total, the film out of 11 nominations won in seven categories and received statuettes for the original script, direction, editing.

Ke Huy Kuan, an American actor of Chinese origin, and American actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who starred in the film, received awards for male and female supporting roles, respectively.

In the career of both actors, this is the first Oscar nominations.

Previously, Yeoh and Quan won the Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe and Saturn awards in similar categories, and the film was awarded a BAFTA statuette for editing, became the best fantasy according to Saturn and turned out to be the most titled film project in history.

Nine more films claimed the main award, including Elvis, Fabelmans, Triangle of Sorrow, Tar, Inisherin's Banshee and others.

The statuette in the category "Best Actor" was taken by Brendan Fraser, who played the role of a single dad in Darren Aronofsky's film "The Whale".

He edged out Colin Farrell (Banshee Inisherina), Paul Mescal (My Sunshine), Bill Nighy (To Live) and Austin Butler (Elvis).

The Whale team also received a statuette for "Best Makeup and Hair": according to the plot, the weight of Fraser's character, who is obese, reaches 272 kilograms.

For the authentic display of the hero on the screen, a special 136-kilogram suit was made.

After the actor put it on, make-up was put on top of him.

All Quiet on the Western Front by German director Edward Berger was awarded International Feature Film, Best Cinematography (James Friend), Best Production Design (Christian M. Goldbeck and Ernestine Hipper) and "Best Original Score" (Volker Bertelmann).

Films from Argentina, Belgium, Poland also competed for the award.

Russia this year did not submit the film for the Oscars by decision of the National Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Russia.

Sarah Polley's Women's Talk won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The tape is based on the novel of the same name by Miriam Toews, based on real events.

The award for "Best Animated Film" was received by a new adaptation of Carlo Collodi's fairy tale about a wooden boy - "Pinocchio" by Mexican director Guillermo del Toro.

In a similar short category, the film "The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse" by Peter Bainton and Charlie McKeesey won.

In the category for short films, the award was given to the Irish Farewell, while the short documentary Exit by Russian directors Maxim and Evgenia Abrugaev about a marine biologist was left without an award.

The award was given to The Elephant Whisperers by Indian director Kartika Gonsalves.

Best Costume Award went to Ruth E. Carter, who designed over 2,000 outfits for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Carter won another award in 2019 for her work in the first part of the picture.

The surprise at the ceremony was the appearance of Jenny the donkey, allegedly from the drama "Banshee of Inisherina", but later it became known that this was not the animal that "starred" in the film.

By the way, the picture of Martin McDonagh with Colin Farrell, who claimed the award in nine categories, did not receive a single one.

James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of the Water won four awards for visual effects, and Top Gun: Maverick won for sound design.

Several musical numbers were traditionally presented during the ceremony.

Oscar-nominated songs This Is A Life (“Everything Everywhere At Once”), Applause (“Together Now”), Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand (“Top Gun: Maverick”), and Rihanna’s Lift Me Up were played from the stage ("Black Panther: Wakanda Forever").

The victory was won by the composition Naatu Naatu from the Indian film “RRR: Revolution Roars Nearby” by S. S. Rajamouli.
