Chinanews.com Shanghai, March 13th, title: "Worker Academician" Mao Qiqin: I hope more young people will fall in love with technology and become "new eighth-level workers"

  Chinanews reporter Xu Jing

"After all, compared with the current emerging industries, the overall income of skilled workers has no advantage, and the working environment is relatively difficult, and the growth cycle of a skilled person is relatively long, which is not attractive to young people today. But I still It is hoped that with the joint efforts of everyone, more young people will fall in love with skills and are willing to become "new eighth-level workers." Mao Qiqin, an electric welder of Shanghai Baoye Group Co., Ltd. who recently won the 16th China Skills Award, accepted A reporter from Chinanews.com said in an exclusive interview.

The winners of the China Skills Award are known as "Academicians of Workers", which is the country's highest award for high-skilled talents.

Talking about the title of "Worker Academician", Mao Qiqin said frankly that as a grassroots worker, he cannot be compared with academicians. There are so many front-line workers with unique skills, they just don’t have a better platform.”

Mao Qiqin has successively trained thousands of highly skilled welders with strong skills.

Since picking up the welding torch for the first time, Mao Qiqin has been rooted in the welding field of metallurgical engineering construction for 28 years, and has been committed to welding process innovation, scientific research project research and welding technology research. More than 10 national key projects such as Beijing Shuangao have been constructed and more than 20 welding scientific research achievements and invention patents have been obtained.

Speaking of the "Bird's Nest" project, Mao Qiqin used "unprecedented" to describe the difficulties and challenges he and his team encountered.

The steel structure roof of the "Bird's Nest" is formed by the orderly weaving of 42,000 tons of steel structural members, with a horizontal span of more than 300 meters. There is no precedent for such a large-scale spatial truss weaving structure at home and abroad.

Mao Qiqin led the welding team to tackle key problems tenaciously. By improving the way of welding strips, exploring the best matching specifications of contact tip and contact tip, and implementing welding techniques such as reasonable combination of welding parameters, he effectively overcome a series of technical problems and contributed to the smooth construction of the project. Provided technical support and guarantee.

Like the "Bird's Nest", in the construction project of China's first snowmobile and sled track, there are also no construction standards and acceptance specifications that can be used for reference.

Mao Qiqin led a team of welding technology experts to carry out practical exploration of welding technology and operation process day and night, and built "the best snowmobile and sled track in the world" praised by foreign experts, ensuring the smooth completion and operation of the snowmobile and sled project.

In 2005, Mao Qiqin participated in the construction of the third-generation synchrotron radiation light source project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He led the team to undertake the task of manufacturing high-precision and low-stress vibration-reducing storage ring support equipment for the project, which was the first domestic manufacturing at that time.

At that time, Mao Qiqin plunged into the laboratory, repeatedly compared various welding methods, changed welding operation skills, and adopted different process combinations such as thermal aging, vibration aging and natural aging, and finally succeeded in manufacturing a welding machine with technical indicators and performance far superior to that of welding. Similar products from other countries have filled the domestic gap.

In the process of "passing on and guiding", Mao Qiqin discovered that more attention should be paid to methods and methods when communicating with "post-00" apprentices.

With superb technology and selfless dedication, Mao Qiqin has successively won the National May 1st Labor Medal, the National Metallurgical Industry Senior Skilled Expert, the first Shanghai Craftsman, the Shanghai May 1st Labor Medal, the Shanghai Skills Master Studio, and the Shanghai Model Worker Innovation Studio, Special Technician of China Minmetals Group, Chief Technician of China Metallurgical Group and other honors, enjoy special government allowances from the State Council.

From an ordinary welder to a master of welding skills, a welding technology expert, and then to winning the China Skills Award, the growth path of "post-75" Mao Qiqin is not smooth.

After returning to Shanghai with the mother of the educated youth, Mao Qiqin became a laborer.

In order to make a living, he decided to learn technology and started electric welding. During his apprenticeship, he worked hard to learn skills. After joining Shanghai Baoye, he began to represent the company in skill competitions in the metallurgical industry.

"For me, winning the first place in the National Welder Skills Competition is the most special. This allowed me to achieve zero breakthroughs in this national competition. It was also after this time that my concept changed and I no longer fancy some benefits.” Mao Qiqin still remembers that he lost successively in national competitions in 2000 and 2002, and then he practiced his skills hard, and finally won the championship in the metallurgical construction industry competition in 2004.

After winning the championship, Mao Qiqin hoped that he could learn more knowledge, broaden his horizons, and go further and further on the road of skills.

He successively obtained junior college and undergraduate degrees, which also laid the foundation for his transformation into a coach.

Skilled talents are an important force supporting Made in China and Created in China, and are the core and basic labor elements connecting technological innovation and production practice.

Cultivating an army of high-skilled talents is becoming an important starting point for China to promote high-quality development.

Last year, the Ministry of Social Affairs of the People's Republic of China issued a policy to extend the original five-level skill level to eight, forming a system consisting of "apprentices, junior workers, intermediate workers, senior workers, technicians, senior technicians, special technicians, and chief technicians". The "new eight-level worker" occupational skill level sequence.

Mao Qiqin, the current director of Shanghai Baoye Welder Training Center, told the reporter that his current main energy is to lead the daily work of the innovation studio, organize the implementation of welding procedure evaluation, carry out skills training and assessment, and the company's welding-related scientific research work.

With the strong support of the company, Mao Qiqin carefully guides and cultivates new talents, conducts special training for new workers' skills, carries out mentoring and apprenticeship activities, and works such as mentoring apprentices with senior teachers; at the same time, special training for competitions is held every year, and skills recertification is carried out at different times training.

He has successively cultivated thousands of high-skilled welders with excellent skills, and Pei Xianfeng, a teacher under his teaching, won the silver medal in the welding project of the 41st World Skills Competition.

"Currently, there is less participation in front-line operations, and I occasionally demonstrate in person during the actual training." Mao Qiqin set a "rule" for himself: new apprentices will try their best to do more operation demonstrations in the first year, and follow-up according to the actual situation. guide.

Today, Mao Qiqin's youngest apprentice is the "post-00s". For a comfortable working environment, when communicating with them, it is more necessary to look up and pay more attention to methods.

"We need to make good use of the situation, for example, they are more interested in new operating technologies, so in the past few years, we have changed the training mode, and strengthened the simulation through more visual small videos and live cases." Mao Qiqin expects that the future will be smooth and perfect The growth channel of industrial workers helps industrial workers in the new era realize the transformation from "craftsman" to "craftsman".
