Last year, the number of imports suspended by customs nationwide as counterfeit brand goods decreased by 4.7% from the previous year.

However, since October last year, imports for personal use have also been subject to new crackdowns, and the number of suspensions has been on the rise.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the number of cases where imports were suspended by customs nationwide as counterfeit brand goods last year was 26,942, a decrease of 4.7% from the previous year.



By country or region, China accounted for 75.9% of the total.



By item, bags accounted for the largest share at 28.1%, followed by clothing at 21.7% and shoes at 13.3%.



The "import suspension price" estimated in the case of genuine products is about 18.3 billion yen.

With the football World Cup Qatar tournament held, fake goods related to the tournament have become conspicuous, and the number of counterfeit water purifier cartridges disguised as major Japanese manufacturers is increasing.



Regarding counterfeit brand products, since October last year, imports for personal use have also been subject to new crackdowns.



Over 8,100 cases were suspended between October and December, an increase of about 20% from the same period the previous year.



The spread of online shopping sites called "cross-border e-commerce" seems to be behind this, and the Ministry of Finance has a policy to thoroughly publicize the new system.
