A 72-year-old man was arrested 14 years ago for murdering a woman he was living with at the time in Omura, Nagasaki Prefecture. This is what I learned from interviews with investigators.

Police are investigating the incident as an attempt to delay its discovery.

It means that he denies the charges, saying that he is "innocent" in response to the investigation.

Suspect Tsunetori Baba (72), an unemployed man from Omura City, Nagasaki Prefecture, killed Chikako Matsunaga (then 49) at his home 14 years ago from mid-April to May 2009. Two days later, he was arrested on suspicion of murder by beating him to death with a blunt instrument.

In October 2009, Matsunaga's whereabouts were unknown, and his parents requested a search. According to the person, a deodorant was placed near the body at that time.

The police are investigating in detail that they tried to delay the discovery of the incident by erasing the smell.

According to the police, Baba has denied the charges, saying that he is "innocent" in response to the investigation.
