"I was originally a resident of Gannan Prefecture, Gansu. In 2008, with the water storage in the Jiudianxia reservoir area, we moved to Guazhou County." On the day of the relocation, every household had "stones" in their cars.
According to Du Ruitian, the selection of Taoyan materials is limited, and the best stone is produced in Taoyan Town, Zhuoni County, Gannan Prefecture, Gansu Province. Therefore, they all moved with their "stones".
When he first arrived in Guazhou, Du Ruitian, who was elected as the village director, never had a moment to spare. He set up a Taoyan processing factory with self-raised funds to provide convenience for villagers who have Taoyan carving skills, so that the Taoinkstone culture can be inherited and promoted in Guazhou. development and expand channels for villagers to get rich.
Du Ruitian said that when he first moved here, the name of the village was still numbered, because most of the villagers were engaged in the Taoyan industry. In 2009, the village was named Taoyan Village.
After that, Du Ruitian founded a personal art studio, effectively using traditional handicraft resources such as Tao inkstone carving and stone processing, and bringing villagers with related skills into the studio, driving villagers to increase their income and become rich.
In addition, the Tao inkstone works created by him and the villagers have won many awards, winning honors for the whole township, and even the Tibetan township has become a well-known "hometown of Tao inkstone".
"In recent years, we have also cooperated with the Dunhuang Academy, and have organized more than 200 people to observe and study in Dunhuang." Du Ruitian said that Tao inkstones with mural patterns were also carved before, but they were all copied according to the patterns in books. He carves whatever is in the book, and he doesn't know the meaning of the patterns.

Now, Du Ruitian often goes to the school to start courses on Tao Inkstone, so that children can experience the unique charm of Tao Inkstone while learning, cultivate interest in traditional arts from an early age, and strive to pass on the craftsmanship of Tao Inkstone.
Taohe green stone inkstone is as famous as Guangdong Duan inkstone, Anhui She inkstone, and Shanxi Chengni inkstone, and is also known as China's four famous inkstones.
