Forty years after Hergé's death, Tintin remains one of the most popular comic book characters.

The author and journalist Bob Garcia, passionate about the universe, has just published the book "Hergé, the ultimate secrets".

Europe 1 has read it and reveals everything you did not know about the father of Tintin, Captain Haddock and Professor Tournesol.

He created one of the most famous comic book characters.

Hergé, Tintin's father, left us 40 years ago.

What future for Tintin?

He wanted to draw the most faithful portrait of Georges Remi, says Hergé.

The author, Bob Garcia, took more than a year to go through 2,548 magazines and go through the 24 Tintin albums.

“It is a work that persists today and I think that in 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, it is a time when we will not hear about it at all”, explains the author.

After the Second World War and his collaboration with the Germans, Hergé's image was tarnished, and he was accused of being racist, anti-Semitic and sexist.

But for Bob Garcia, these accusations are to be taken with a grain of salt.

"Right from the start, Hitler is ridiculed in the cartoons. He is presented as a vociferous puppet, not at all credible, who contradicts himself. Finally, he has an extremely negative image and that, I discovered. I did not think , I did not know”, continues Bob Garcia. 

Finally, on a lighter note, we learn more about Captain Haddock, who was originally a trapper nicknamed "the lone wolf", sheltered from the thunder of Brest.
