On March 2, the Zhejiang Hangzhou West Railway Station Hub Planning Exhibition Hall opened to the public.

"Two Thousand Years of West Railway Station—Exhibition of Cultural Relics at Lijiatang Site" kicked off simultaneously in the cultural relics and archaeological exhibition hall of the exhibition hall.

It is reported that the Hangzhou West Railway Station hub is the first high-speed rail hub in the country with an exhibition hall for cultural relics and archaeology.

This exhibition is the first exhibition of the theme series of "I am repairing cultural relics at West Railway Station" launched by the exhibition hall.

A total of 97 pieces of cultural relics are exhibited in the exhibition, most of which were unearthed from the Lijiatang site, with porcelain as the bulk. There are Deqing kiln, Yue kiln, Hongzhou kiln, Yuezhou kiln, Changsha kiln, etc. , pots, pots, cups, water bowls, bowls, high-footed plates, lamps, lids, grinders, etc., two large vats, tiles with various patterns, and a brick kiln reproduced in full size are also exhibited.

The Lijiatang Site is located in the J-R21-13 block of the West Railway Station Hub in Lijiatang Village, Cangqian Street, Yuhang District, Hangzhou. Archaeological exploration and excavation began in 2019, with an excavation area of 3,000 square meters.

Two tombs from the Six Dynasties period, one brick kiln, 11 stilt-style building foundations in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, two tile kilns in the Song Dynasty and other important relics were found in the site, and nearly 800 artifacts were unearthed.

Time will pass, but the treasure under the ruins will speak.

Yang Jindong, the person in charge of the archaeological project of the Lijiatang site and the deputy director of the Hangzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology, said that the archaeological excavation results of the site show that there are traces of ancestor activities in the area where the West Station is located at least during the Warring States period; from the Eastern Jin Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty In the Five Dynasties, it has developed into a certain scale and prosperous market town settlement.

So, why is it necessary to open a cultural relics and archaeological exhibition hall in a site with a large traffic flow like Hangzhou West Railway Station, and hold a cultural relics exhibition displaying the ruins of grass-roots settlements?

Yang Jindong said that people in the world care about princes and nobles, which emperors and empresses they leave behind, and how many gold and silver treasures they leave behind. Few people care about ordinary people.

Princes and nobles can be found in the literature records, but it is too difficult for ordinary people to leave a mark in the literature.

However, archaeologists often face the relics left by the grassroots people in ancient times. Therefore, archaeologists have the responsibility to show the most grassroots and ordinary life in ancient times.

In his view, the protection, excavation and display of the Lijiatang site means a new beginning.

"It opened our attention to the life of ordinary people in ancient times and the attention of small settlements."

It is reported that in the archaeological world, not only the ruins of emperors and generals are meaningful.

In fact, for archaeologists, the lives of ordinary people have a different historical value.

Yang Jindong said frankly that for an ordinary settlement like the Lijiatang site, there is not a single word in the literature records, but it is also very valuable.

Taking the unearthed Changsha kiln celadon brown color mold printed with Huren pattern holding pot unearthed as an example, "How did it come to Lijiatang Village?" "Did it come by water?" "What ship did it use?" Going deeper, the economic and cultural exchanges of ancient people will gradually have a concept in their minds, "Oh, so they are like this!"

Yang Jindong said that this is a manifestation of value.

The Lijiatang site is one of the few grass-roots settlement sites in Hangzhou officially excavated from the Eastern Jin Dynasty to the Sui and Tang Dynasties. It is a microcosm of the historical development and evolution of Hangzhou. Trade provides important physical information.

The Hangzhou West Railway Station hub opened a cultural relics and archaeological exhibition hall and held an exhibition of cultural relics at the Lijiatang site. In Yang Jindong's view, this is a beneficial attempt to popularize archaeological knowledge.

"Whether the popularization or dissemination of archaeological knowledge is not something that can be achieved overnight." Yang Jindong said, and the move of the Hangzhou West Railway Station hub has given archaeologists an additional window to display archaeological results, and it has also given the public an additional window. A channel to understand cultural relics and archaeology.

The organic combination of ancient culture and modern high-speed rail is a positive attempt to "make cultural relics come alive".

He also hopes that in the future, Hangzhou West Railway Station Hub and Hangzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology will work hard to give full play to the value of the cultural relics and archaeology exhibition hall, display and publicize archaeological knowledge and the latest archaeological achievements in Hangzhou, so that Hangzhou West Railway Station Hub will not only be a The transportation interchange hub is also the display window and output station of Hangzhou's history and culture.

The relevant person in charge of the Hangzhou West Railway Station Hub said that the Hangzhou West Railway Station Hub is committed to building a station with an urban atmosphere that is people-centered, cultured, and warm.

Now a cultural relics and archeology exhibition hall is opened in the planning exhibition hall on the second floor of the Hangzhou West Railway Station Hub, aiming to enhance the added value of the cultural attributes of the Hangzhou West Railway Station Hub.

The holding of "Two Thousand Years of West Railway Station-Lijiatang Relics Exhibition" is an exploration to enhance the added value of this area's culture.
