Six years ago, a 48-year-old defendant accused of murdering a couple in their 80s and stealing their purse in Nagoya City was revoked and redone the original first-instance decision that did not recognize the crime as a robbery. Judgment will be handed down in two days.

While the prosecution sought the death penalty, the defense argued that the same life imprisonment as the original first trial was appropriate, and the court's decision is drawing attention.

In March 2017, defendant Hiroshi Yamada (48) stabbed and killed an 83-year-old and 80-year-old couple who lived near his apartment in Minami Ward, Nagoya, and stole their wallet. is being asked.

The original first trial did not admit that the crime was committed for the purpose of robbery, and judged that it was a crime of murder and theft, and sentenced the death penalty to life imprisonment. I ordered the first trial to be redone based on the premise.

In the redo lay judge trial that began at the Nagoya District Court in January this year, the prosecution once again sought the death penalty, saying that the defendant had full responsibility and that the crime of killing two people for the purpose of stealing money and goods was extremely serious. .

On the other hand, the defense argued that the robbery was not the purpose of the robbery because it was a crime out of resentment toward the victim. I argue that life imprisonment is justified.

Judgment will be handed down at 3:00 pm on the 2nd.
