On March 1, five organizations, including NPOs working to combat child poverty, held a joint press conference at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

At the press conference, one of the groups conducted a survey of households raising children in need in November last year, and more than 70% of respondents said that household finances had become "very difficult" due to rising prices, which had a negative impact on the physical and mental growth of children. He explained that 50% of the respondents said that they were out, and there were not many households who could not even eat due to the corona sickness and high prices.

Yumiko Watanabe, chairman of the NPO Kids Door, said, ``In a situation where there are fears that some parents and children will end their lives at the end of the school year when it costs money to go on to higher education, we will promptly provide cash benefits to low-income households. I want you."

Mitsuharu Ogawa, representative director of Asunoba Public Interest Incorporated Foundation, said, "It is important to support all children, but we must not forget to expand support to children who face various difficulties."

On top of that, the five groups will submit a request to the government and the ruling and opposition parties for seamless economic support, such as benefits for low-income households and an increase in child-rearing allowances paid to single-parent households. .
