From the night of the 27th to the dawn of the 28th, a series of fires broke out in housing complexes and apartments in Tokyo, killing a total of two people.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the cause of the fire as well as confirming the identity.

After 11:50 pm on the 27th, there was a report that a 13-story housing complex in Hyakunincho, Shinjuku-ku, was on fire.



According to the Tokyo Fire Department, about 20 fire engines were put out to extinguish the fire, and the fire was extinguished after about two and a half hours, but one person was found dead in a room on the 6th floor, which is believed to be the origin of the fire.



According to the Metropolitan Police Department, it is impossible to contact a man in his 50s who lives in this room, so we are investigating the cause of the fire as well as confirming that he is the man who died.



The site is an area lined with houses and schools about 500 meters south of JR Takadanobaba Station.



Also, before 1:00 am on the 28th, a fire occurred in Higashikurume City, Tokyo, where a room on the first floor of a three-story apartment building was burned, and one person was rescued from the burnt remains, but was confirmed dead shortly after.

The site is a residential area about 2 kilometers north of Hana-Koganei Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line.
